“I’ve got two guest bedrooms back there,” I said, pointing behind me when I realized all the guys were standing there, wide-eyed like they didn’t know where it was safe to walk, “but they’re just empty rooms right now. I’ve also got these four couches that you can sleep on here.”

“Just by breathin’ in here, I’m gonna fuck this place up,” Chase said, eyeing my apartment, barely moving.

“What? Why?” I couldn’t help but ask.

His gaze moved to mine. “It’s clean and fancy! Anything I touch is gonna get dirt on it.”

Laughing at all of them because they looked like statues, remarkably out of place, standing off to the side of my living room, I said, “I’m a fucking motorcycle mechanic. I wouldn’t have bought furniture that couldn’t handle a little grease and grime. Come on in already. Come in.” I used overexaggerated motions with my arms to show just how little I cared about what they were worrying themselves over. “Make yourselves at home; I promise, it’s okay.”

They moved toward me some, but after a few seconds, it was obvious they needed more assurances.

Grabbing the duffle out of Anchor’s hand, I chucked it onto the couch closest to me. “You’ll sleep there. That’s your space. Have at it.” Then, I walked over to Diego, pulled his bag from his grasp, and threw it at one of the other couches. “And that’s yours. Do I need to do the same for the rest of you, or do you think you’ve got it?”

One of my hands landed on the hip I’d stuck out to the side as I eyed them.

Smirking at me, Anchor took the lead, which I was instantly grateful for, all the way up until the point that he was jumping over the back of the couch with his bag on it, crossing his legs over one another where they landed on his duffle and sent his hands behind his head - then I was a little ruffled.

I knew they’d take the track if I gave them an inch.

“You don’t have to tell me twice. This is comfortable.” His eyes were full of playful energy I hadn’t seen in him before, so it lessened my ire as I spoke to him.

“You could at least keep your boots off the furniture, but I think that’s probably a rule for anyone’s house.”

Smiling while he moved, he sat up and started unlacing his boots. “Just testing the waters, you know?”

“Uh-huh,” I said as the rest of the guys started making their way around the space, and I turned on my heel. “I’m going to wash all this grease off. I’ll be back in a bit.”

“Can I come?” Chase asked.

I sent my gaze over my shoulder as I walked down the hallway, only answering him with a wink before I stepped into my room and couldn’t see him anymore.

“Was that a yes?” I heard him ask, and I had to stifle the giggle that tore through me at his words.

“I have no idea.” That was Prowler’s voice; I was sure of it.
